Gardening Delight! |
| I bought 10 Earthboxes about 13 years ago when I lived in New York. I loved growing my own abundant & delicious vegetables. When I moved to Minnesota, I brought my Earthboxes with me and they are still going strong! I look forward to gardening every year--its so easy to do with Earthbox. Thanks for a great product! |

First time user |
| I set up my three earthboxes. The plants grew well but a little more than half way through the growing season the elastic around my box cover gave way. I would find the cover in a heap around the plants but the plants were too big to be able to remove the cover and put on a new one. So when it rained the rain just would land on the top. And I guess I needed an automatic watering system as when the cover worked in the first part of the growing season, if it rained I had to get out in the rain to water the plants as the cover blocked out any rain water. Felt kind of dumb being out in the rain to water my plants. |

One to 13 in one year and growing |
| SUMMARY:
Earth Box is a great investment in ones health as the yield on home grown veggies provides optimal nutrition at minimal cost especially if we use our boxes for years to come. Earth boxes are scientific, resourceful, and can be life changing. I started mine in memory of my deceased mother as it reflected her nurturing life and commitment to healthy habits. Ive not been disappointed, and I’ve gained a new sense of community as I’ve connected with people on the Earth Box forum and in local garden clubs.
***DETAILS***:
I started with one earth box EB last Spring. This spring I have 13 and plan for more. They pay for themselves in one season. For example, I got over 30 tomatoes from one box, and that was a low yield compared to seasoned earthboxers. Some of those tomatoes weighed over a pound – the Brandywine Beefsteaks. Ive met people who have EBs going strong after 15 years. The home made versions usually last a couple years or are <not> food grade. So if you value your time and money, invest in EB.
*** EBs are scientifically balanced thus following set up instructions precisely will produce the best yield. Their online forum at earthbox.com is a wonderful support. The members are exceptionally knowledgeable and giving. Some have PhDs in horticulture, yet give information freely and frequently. I usually get a response to my questions within hours, no later than a couple days.
*** EBs dont use soil. They will yield more and have less disease problems when we follow manufacture instructions as to the type if potting mix is optimal. Read the forum before starting and youll avoid common newbie errors.
*** I never had problems with the wheels as some folks have mentioned. With the box upside down, I insert and press firmly till I hear a snap. They never fall out. They roll easily and have a lock to keep stationary when needed. For transporting longer distances I use a hand truck which fits nicely between the wheels.
*** EBs keep the plants so healthy that they are less prone to disease, thus require less work to maintain. They have an automatic watering system option that minimizes the work further still.
*** Ive spent most of my time as a new gardening learning about insects so I know which are good and which are harmful to the plant. I have so many good bugs in my yard that I rarely have to spray. My worst problem is squirrels playing in the new potting mix. It’s also important to know <what> to plant and <when> even in Florida. That is crucial to successful gardening, but easy to learn.
*** Don’t rely on garden stores, they often sell plants that are out of season or varieties that are not good for your grow zone. There is a lot to learn to get the most out of the Earth Box, but it a lot less than other forms of gardening. I’ve had a number of problems, but the forum family was quick to get me on the right track. And, usually the fix was easy. It has taken much more time than I imagined, but it’s an acceptable learning curve that will lessen as I get more experienced. For example, when my tomatoes were not setting fruit, I learned they needed partial shade and that I had varieties that were not as tolerant of heat and humidity as others. Once in partial shade, they did better and the next season was much better with a different variety of Beefsteak.
*** I had a problem with one of the boxes cracking; customer service at earthbox.com replaced it immediately and assured me the faulty mold producing the weak box had been fixed. When I bought mine, the store provided a satisfaction guarantee for one year. So no risk. Not all dealers provide that, so check your options if that’s important to you. |

Fantastic product - we have had our first boxes for over 10 years |
| For those of you considering purchasing an Earthbox, you will not be disappointed. You cannot over water them and they yield a high volume of product. If you havent tried herbs in them yet, DO IT! Our herbs were phneomenal this year. Our daughter accidently spilled a seed package into one and we werent sure what it was... shortly afterward we had celery! Celery from an earthbox is amazing. We are from Florida and have problems with carrots because of our soil and I made soup yesterday from our homegrown carrots. I am already planning to buy a few more for our spring garden. The first ones we ever bought? Over ten years ago and as useful and durable as the day we purchased them. Love, love, love Earthboxes. |

Amazing Results |
| I am handicapped and thanks to EarthBox I can enjoy gardening again. I am amazed at the volume of vegetables I have been able to grow. I have shown this to many perple who also want the Earthbox system for growing. I also ordered the organic replant kits and used organic soil so the vegetables have been healthy as well as very tasty. I highly recommend this system to anyone considering it. |

Lifesavers |
| I bought 10 Earth Boxes over 10 years ago and they are still going strong. We live in Las Vegas, NV where the soil is so hard and poor but with the earth boxes our garden is heaven. Thank you. I plan to get 10 more boxes soon. |

Great Results |
| My elderly neighbors bought 4. my neighbors dont get out much, they dont do much heavy lifting, they dont do much at all. They ask me to plant the boxes once a year with tomatoes and green peppers. I add new fresh top soil $2.00 a box and time release ferts. every year... and they keep the boxes watered. the boxes get all day sun and shade to part sun in afternoon. They drink their beer with others that stop by, and just keep the boxes watered. The boxes are off the ground and on cement blocks. I think the combination of good air circulation, watering, ferts and not caring ...gives my elderly neighbors the advantage. the boxes are perfect for them. My Neighbors have earned the bragging rights to great produce... smiles [ North Andrews Gardens ] Fort Lauderdale Florida [ MAY 2011] |

Mixed Feelings |
| I am not sure but I suspect that it is just me. I have read nothing but outstanding results but I have yet to have any luck. I have had the Earth Box System with auto watering for 5 years. I Have only tried tomatoes and I have yet to get a single tomato that I would consider respectable size. I have never had a problem with the plants. They grow like crazy up to 6 feet high. Every year they have been the most health looking tomato plants I have ever seen. My problem has been the fruit. once the fruit starts to develop the plant dies and the tomatoes never get much bigger than a golf ball. This year I tried two different types of tomatoes one was called a Brandy Wine and the other was a Beef Steak hoping I might get better results. This year was also the first time I got a significant quantity of tomatoes, I would guess about 100 or more but there was not a one of them bigger than a golf ball. As the tomatoes started to develop the plant died from the bottom up. The fruit all ripened OK and they were very tasty just no size to them. This was the best year I have had so far. The previous years I would be lucky if I got 15 to 20 tomatoes and they were never bigger than a golf ball. I am sure it is me doing something wrong after seeing everyone elses results. So it probably is not fair for me to rate the box at only 3 stars. The only reason I rated it as a 3 is that I thought it would have been a pretty fool proof system but with the same poor results for 5 years I guess I found a way to mess it up. |

Loving my EarthBoxes! |
| We bought an EarthBox several years ago to try in NH. We had moved here and found it difficult to get vegetables to grow and produce before the growing seasons ended. The EarthBox was the answer to our problem. We bought several more and grow our vegetables in these. I am purchasing one for my childrens school and trying the MiniGarden myself this year! |

Grows well in Southern Ontario |
| I live right downtown. I have four boxes, and would buy 100 if I had the space. My tiny backyard faces north, so the sunlight is not great. Nevertheless, I grow tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, peas and beans. I have so much produce that I share lots with my neighbours. |

Gardening made easy |
| As a life long vegetable gardener I’ve always lived in areas that didn’t provide the proper elements for in-ground gardening. I resorted to containers. I’ve grown vegetables in any container I could find that was big enough to hold my veggies. This provided a satisfactory yield but I always though things could be better.
I found Earthbox through those mailers that seem to come in every package of coupons I received. I was suspicious at first but after investigating, it just made sense. I bought 5
Earthboxes after checking the Earthbox website and finding a great deal on boxes that had some minor flaws.
I planted exactly per the supplied instructions and was amazed at how much more tomatoes and peppers I harvested. These boxes truly improve your harvest. Not only that there is no weeding! I could go on and on but suffice it to say I now have 30 boxes.
The boxes are well made. They hold up well in the Florida sun and they make gardening a lot easier |
